Welcome to the auction of my old skool Mk4 Ford Escort van powered by a Focus ST170 engine, but kept looking reasonably standard to surprise a few dreamers . I bought the van as a retro fun little run around at which time it was totally standard, running on standard wheels and wheel covers which are available if required. It was showing just 43k from new and although no proof, I was more than happy to believe this due to the condition. It has had some paint over its 30 years but as you can see is very nice still now. My friends lad had a Ford Focus ST 170 which had full black Recaro trim, unfortunately for him he had a bit of an accident in his car and asked me if I fancied buying it from him which I did. So we’ve since exchanged the old 1.8 flat diesel for the Focus ST engine, which bolts straight upto the original gearbox and the ratios suit it really well, whilst in a bullet proof box. We used a Mondeo clutch plate and obviously modified the odd thing as we needed, but essentially look inside the bonnet and it looks factory. Another friend modified the wiring loom to incorporate the Focus ECU , so everything works as it should. We then installed the leather Recaros which are lovely, we have also got the ST leather steering wheel which will come with it also. Next I wanted slightly bigger wheels whilst maintaining that classic look, so these are 16inch x 7inch steels, which look like they’re banded but they’re actually Peugeot steels and then fitted with brand new 195/45’s. Lastly we ordered a brand new Sportex exhaust, which needed modifying slightly as built for an XR/RS and sounds brilliantly raspy without any drone, so perfect for the van.Its all gone together really well and is fantastic fun to drive , the only reason I’m putting it on the market, is because something even rarer has come onto the market that I desperately want to buy, if it sells I’ll stop this auction and keep my little sleeper. I’m based in N. Devon , any further info please ask. Bank transfer is acceptable and funds must be clear before drive away.
