Friends, we have here the last new out of the Rover Dealership showroom Rover Maestro left in the UK. This incredible survivor has an interesting history. Although Rover had ceased production they continued to produce the Maestro in CKD ( completely knocked down ) kit form until 1996 for export. A quantity of these kits in box’s remained at the Cowley Works In Oxford destined for export to Bulgaria to Rodacar Motors a joint Rover Bulgarian venture. In 1997 the venture ceased. A main Rover dealership Parkway Motors in Ledbury Herefordshire purchased the last remaining CKD kits all 621 of them a mixture of cars & vans. They then assembled the kit’s it has to be said with a far far better build quality than at the old Rover factory. They sold them off over a period of time with the last assembled kits sold in 2001. The chassis number points to speculation that this may have been the last one assembled. It was finished in Midnight Blue ( Paint Code JWQ) with Flint two tone velour from the Sport Crayon upholstry range. A top of the range Radiomobile radio is also in the specification. Fitted with the super reliable no nonsense Rover A+ 1.3 unleaded engine as fitted to a host of Rover & BL cars over the years. SU carb, manual choke not an ECU in sight, nothing to go wrong. Also you have the benefit of of the latest 5 speed gearbox. This car was registered to Parkway Motors on 3rd January 2001 & a Mr Peter Cottle a local man bought it on the 11th of January direct from Parkway, he drove it annually & had it MOT’d every year and he kept it until his regrettable recent demise, so only 1 previous owner. He paid £8430 which is a massive £14070 in todays money. I won’t bore you with superlatives or descriptions , simply the car is as new, out of the box, a few minor storage marks that’s it. The car has been fully serviced & fully recommissioned (2nd June 2020) and is MOT’d till June 2021. You can take it to the Festival of the Unexceptional rally & be the Star car, or put it in your garage & sit in it whilst it gains in value ( Bank Rate 0.1% a no brainer ) or use it as a shopping & holidays & rally car or as a very practical usable, comfy & very economic hatchback with that 1980’s charm. This is your last & only chance to buy an almost new Rover car. Most other Maestro’s have rusted away, but not this one, wax protected by Parkway Motors at build & all the joint sealants are intact, all factory labels, completly original, tool kit unused,2 Rover keys & key tag, sales brochure & document pack. A reference car for museums & with only 3914 mile ( currently), it’s barely run in. Buying this car would just be like buying the demonstrator from your local Rover dealership, only of course there are no Rover dealerships anymore. Oh & by the way it’s only £165 per year road tax, talk about cheap motoring. For viewing just contact me full PPE available.
